Film Pitch

Questions: What are your unique selling points for this film? I have taken an unconventional approach with some aspects of the film; the main choices regarding location and character choice. Normally, films within the 'noir' genre are often set in America at some point in the past as characters usually have a trans-Atlantic accent however I have chosen to set the film in England to create a small change to the genre. I have also gotten rid of the conventional 'femme fatale' side character and replaced it with a 'regular' male character who doesn't become romantically involved with the protagonist. What is your target audience? Ideally, the target audience for 'Partner in crime' would be fans of classic films within the 'noir' genre as well as young adults who want to watch something 'different'. What are the limitations and how will you overcome them? The main limitations would probably be finding a suitable location and obtaining spe...

Film ideas

Image
I have completed this pre-production activity to prepare for creating my film next year. By conjuring up three different film ideas, all from a separate genre, I have allowed myself to thoroughly research potential options I might be interested in. I completed this task by studying the conventional features of certain genres e.g. the use of jumpscares in horror films, linking it to a concept I've constructed and then developing that concept, deciding whether or not to follow these conventions. Hopefully, this will positively impact the outcome of my product as my ideas will be thoroughly developed.

Film treatment

Image
I have completed this pre-production activity to understand what should be featured in a film proposal. I did this by presenting different aspects of my project e.g. script, title, pitch so that potential investors will be able to see a more rounded version of what I've created. By doing this, I will be able to recognise the important features of a treatment and understand why they are individually necessary.

One Mile Away case study

Image
I have completed this pre-production activity to provide an example of the scale of pre-production from a low budget film. By studying the elements of pre-production separately, it's helped me understand how everything connects together and by using powerpoint as a way to display this, it makes each component easier to break down. I believe that this will improve the end product as I now am more knowledgeable of how to cope with pre-production when creating a film under a low budget.

World War Z case study

I have completed this pre-production activity to provide an example of the scale of pre-production from a high budget film. By studying the different elements of pre-production separately, I have been able to observe the importance of finer details when considering how it will impact the final project, especially when looking at the plethora of mistakes made my World War Z's pre-production team. This will develop my knowledge of pre-production and therefore improve the end-product of my media project.

Monsters case study

I have completed this pre-production activity to provide an example of the scale of pre-production from a moderately budgeted film. I've used powerpoint for this task as it allowed me to concentrate on separate parts of the film's pre-production, therefore letting me make a more evaluative conclusion on whether it was successful or not. This will help me when creating the final product as I will know how to plan effectively based on the case studies I looked at.
