One Mile Away case study








I have completed this pre-production activity to provide an example of the scale of pre-production from a low budget film. By studying the elements of pre-production separately, it's helped me understand how everything connects together and by using powerpoint as a way to display this, it makes each component easier to break down. I believe that this will improve the end product as I now am more knowledgeable of how to cope with pre-production when creating a film under a low budget.

Budgeting: Below the line and Above the line

  Above the line-  the list of individuals who guide, influence and add to creative direction, process and voice of a given narrative in a film and their related expenditures. These roles include (but aren't limited to) the screenwriters, producer, director, producers, and writers from the other crew. Below the line- a term derived from the top sheet of a budget (Motion Picture, Television, Commercial, Industrial, Student Film, Documentary). The 'line' in below the line is one separating the Actors, Director, Producers and Writers from the other crew I have completed this pre-production activity to allow myself more understanding of required finances in a low-budget film. By understanding the idea of 'above' and 'below' the line costs, I will be able to have a clearer idea of how budgeting works and where money specifically goes to in a project.
